 Alladie, Robert 20th Century
A student at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris, whose work was selected to decorate the invitation for the 1937 Bal des Quat'zarts. This annual event, begun in 1892 in Montmartre, was a costume ball along the lines of Carnavale, for students of architecture, painting, drawing and sculpture. It is credited with being the venue for the first strip tease! Each year a new student was commissioned to create the invitations, tickets and posters and these have become highly collectible. The tradition continued until 1966.
