Somm, Henri 1810-1889 Born Francois Clement Sommier in Rouen, Somm arrived in Paris in 1870 to study drawing. His early work was strongly influenced by Japonisme but he later tended toward scenes of contemporary Paris. This genre brought him great success as his depictions of society were executed with great talent and often verged on satire. He took part in the Impressionists Exhibitions of 1879 and 1889 and eventually adopted a more Art Nouveau style a la Toulouse Lautrec.
